I'm looking forward to this long weekend, not only for the epic gorging that will take place this weekend (blah, blah, blah, family time.), but because I have yet another Funky Junk Flea Market & Craft Sale! This month we're adding a Friday evening portion to our Saturday fair to coincide with Black Friday. The fine folks just down the street are putting on 5 Points Friday, a great event promoting shopping local for the holidays. They've invited us to particpate alongside them, so all the more reason to come over to the East Side for amazing local shopping for the holidays!
This time around the sale will have a great array of vendors, some different from Friday to Saturday. (perhaps it's best to come BOTH days!). I hope to include a list of the vendors soon.

Upcoming events
First off, this Saturday, is Boheme Collectif's Funk Junk Flea Market. Tucked away in an odd little venue, Boheme Collectif will be featuring DJ Sooper Grover as well as some of the coolest, funkiest art, crafts and vintage Nashville has to offer. It's also a fabulous venue for performance art and music, but I'll get to that in a minute. You don't want to miss out on this!
Below is a sampling of items that I will have available there!
Next Wednesday, the Magic Cabaret will be putting on a night of magic, burlesque, music and so much more to help raise money for Suicide Prevention. There will be prize packages and individual prizes auctioned off, a bake sale and more entertainment than you can shake a stick at. I'll be contributing my semi-famous vegan (don't let that fool you) pumpkin bread and a few necklaces to the fundraising effort as well as enjoying the smorgasbord of delights set for the evening. You can buy advance tickets here (includes 2 drink tickets!):
Last, but not least, EraBellum Artist Co-op will celebrate its official, Grand Opening! It'll be Thursday, September 27th from 6 pm until 9 pm. There will be food, fun, music and retail therapy available. I am so excited about my booth there, check it out!

Boheme Collectif Funky Junk Flea Market
So I've been hearing an approving murmur here and there about a group called Boheme Collectif. I keep hearing good things about the people in it and the shows and exhibitions they put on, so when I saw that they were putting on their very first craft show, The Funky Junk Flea Market, I jumped on it! This Saturday, August 18th from 9 am until 2, they'll be holding their first ever art, craft & vintage show at their not-so-secret lair on Gallatin Ave. If you can make it, you should come by and check it out, if all goes well, they plan to make it a monthly event. There are more details on the flier below.

Bastille Day Art Walk in Hillsboro Village
Thanks to a thriving French Market and Cafe (Provence),
which was one of the pioneers of Hillsboro Village as we know it today,
Bastille Day is kind of a big deal in the Village. So much of a big
deal that they've moved the monthly art walk, that is usually on
Thursday evenings, to Saturday so as to fall on the day itself. I'll be
sharing a small tent with my pal Adrien of DCXV
on the street in front of the Pancake Pantry. There should be loads of
French themed goodness to partake in, I hope that everyone can make it!
Here's a sampling of new jewelry pieces that will be available there:

Porter Flea Holiday Market
The summer Porter Flea Arts Market was such a huge success that they've decided to do it again for the Holidays! I'll be sharing a booth with Music City Suds on Saturday December 3rd from noon until 8pm at the East park community center.
Below are a few new things that I've been working on, including my Bullets A-Flyin' series using spent shells and feathers.

Rumours East Wine, Chocolate & Shopping
I'll be at this event with a small sampling of handmade and vintage goodness along with a host of other vendors. Remember, the shopping is free to enjoy, but you'll have to pony up $20 for chocolates & wine, but it is WELL worth it!

November Porter Crossing Arts Market
The November Porter Crossing Arts Market will be from noon until 9pm this Saturday, November 12th. I'll be there with vintage clothing, furniture and household goods, as well as handmade jewelry, art and decor. There has been such a great selection of vendors at the past 2 events, I can only imagine that it will get better in these last 2 shows seeing as how we're getting close to the holidays.
Check out details on their Facebook event page.

Stacks on Decks
I have a dog in this fight, so to speak.
Comin' atcha' this Saturday! Saturday! Saturday!
I present to you Stacks on Decks!

Oodles of local artists have custom designed/painted/artified skateboard decks in this show. There'll be music, food, drink, live painting, Djs & most importantly, ME! These are artisan made, Birch skateboards, so please come by and pat my hand reassuringly and tell me that I didn't ruin one. ;)

Aftermath of the 2nd OMG Flea Market
So the 2nd OMG Urban Flea Market was this last Saturday, what a scorcher! (both literally and figuratively) I have to say despite the fact that the weatherman said that it got up to 105ยบ out there, it was a good day. I got to hang out with the incomparable Jessica Hodges of Pokenbag (her Etsy shop is here), the Farmer's Wife, Shannon Smith, and the always lovely Jenny Dawes-Drone of the Restoration Project. They were my booth buddies. My talented friend, Miss Marrah Florita, was there as well, but she was soooo faaaaar awaaaaay and it was sooooo hoooooot, that I didn't speak to her much. If it wasn't within 10 feet or serving cold beverages/air conditioning I was not interested!
I was very afraid that sales would be down thanks to the heat, but Inglewood never disappoints me with their support of local events. Come hell or high water, they are out there with their foldin' money and a smile. I can see the appeal of living in such a vibrant community, but alas, I am a west-sider through & through.
Speaking of supporting that which is local (and awesome) the site where we were holding the event will some day soon be home to the Urban Green Lab. A soon-to-be-built community center to promote sustainable living. They had a booth to get the word out, it sounds like a really cool project.
And on the subject of reduce, reuse, recycle, I had a couple of vintage chairs. They were wonderful chairs, they looked deceptively like your typical early 20th century wooden dining chairs. What made these two special was that they folded up if you push in the super secret release on the back. It's like having a secret passage or something, but it's a chair! I recovered the seat with part of an old nylon/acrylic quilt top that I had lying around and I just fell in love with them all over again. I kinda' didn't want to sell them. Turns out though, that each one went to a photographer. One went to the proprietress of Stella Dolce Photography and the other to a lovely lady named Jessie who wrote about my chair in her blog! I was pretty flattered that two separate people who make it their business to capture beauty, bought something that I found and redid. Not that I'm not flattered when anyone buys my stuff, it reassures me that I'm not entirely crazy for making this stuff!
I look forward to next time and further affirmations that I am not mad.
